Individual Counseling
We offer a customized course of treatment tailored to meet each client’s individual needs. Through individual counseling, our therapists work one-on-one with the client to resolve root issues and achieve treatment goals.
Child, Adolescent, and Family Counseling
Many of our providers have experience and training in working with children and adolescents. Modalities can include individual, parental, and family counseling, and we work in tandem with the parent and/or guardian to bring healing and wholeness to the entire family unit.
Marriage and Couples Counseling
Our counselors are also able to work with couples at every stage of the relationship, from premarital counseling to those who have been married for many years. Many of our providers have advanced training in helping couples resolve their most difficult issues and find peace and harmony in their relationships.
Psychiatric Services
Our psychiatrist has years of experience providing medical evaluation and management services for a variety of mental health conditions. She also works in tandem with our counseling team to provide the highest level of integrated care.
For Patients: We do not provide psychological testing. Our psychiatrist currently works with adults aged 18-64. We do not accept self-initiated referrals. If you are interested in utilizing our services, please have your current or past psychiatrist, primary care physician, or counselor refer you using the referral forms listed below (forms not submitted from a provider will be discarded).
For Providers: If you wish to fax records, please use the External Psychiatric Referrals Form as your cover sheet. Do not submit records without this form. You may fax referrals to our office at (803) 779-7881. Providers may also submit referrals electronically by using our online referral form. Referrals must include the latest office notes, current lab work, medication list, and demographic information.

Sexual Addiction Treatment Program
The Christian Counseling Center of First Presbyterian Church provides individual counseling and separate therapy groups for men and women seeking recovery from sexually compulsive behavior.
Who Can Receive Services?
The Christian Counseling Center provides services for individuals, couples, and families regardless of race, religion, gender, or socio-economic status.
Our Specialties
Our counselors employ a variety of empirically backed treatment integrated with the Christian faith, including (but not limited to) cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), family systems therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), emotionally focused therapy (EFT), and exposure and response prevention therapy (ERT). The following is a sample list of concerns with which our counselors frequently work. If you don’t see your concern here, please call in to see if our counselors work with that as well.
- Life Adjustment: new phase of life, academic or employment problems, general stress
- Relationships: issues in dating, marriage, family, parenting, and multi-generational concerns
- Anxiety: stress, worry, burnout, panic attacks, irritability, racing thoughts
- Depression: sadness, fatigue, low motivation, feelings of guilt, self-harm thoughts, mood swings
- Trauma: PTSD, anxiety, nightmares/flashbacks, mood alteration, irritability, victim of sexual or physical harm and abuse, self-harm thoughts
- Sexual Addictions and Affair Recovery: finding sexual wholeness and working through betrayal and loss
- Eating Disorders: managing a healthy relationship to food
- Loss and Grief: dealing with death, being a caregiver, adjusting to life after loss
- Emotional Regulation: managing emotional outbursts or impairment and increasing interpersonal effectiveness, anger management
- Spiritual Growth: working through spiritual issues to gain deeper communion with God
